So. We’ve been here in Greece for almost three weeks now and it hasn’t
rained once. Not even a tiny sprinkle or single drop. Those eency weency spiders have been safely climbing up and down the water spouts to their hearts' content. Sunny and beautiful, the
weather has been just as warm a reception for these Americans in Greece as the ones we’ve received from the lovely people we’ve met so far.
But this morning, we awakened to cloudy
skies instead of blue ones, restless shutters and thundering shudders instead
of gently blowing trees and melodious birdsong, bright flashes of lightning
instead of bright rays of sunshine. It
was as if all the weather of three weeks laid waiting and just unleashed today.
But that’s okay—if nothing else, it sets the
tone and provides a perfect soundtrack (and excuse!) for catching up on rest
and pictures and words…
A lot has happened in these three short weeks. A lot has happened in just this last
week. And there are countless directions
I could go with this post—really, countless posts I could write from the events
and happenings and life that have been lived this week. It’s hard to know where to start, but if you
keep waiting to know before you go, you’ll never go anywhere.
So, here’s to rainy days and restful mornings. Here’s to ferry rides and afternoons on the beach. Here’s to starting school and days off school. Here’s to democracy and her people. Here’s to moments spent in conversation and moments spent in quiet. Here’s to every sunrise and sunset.
Here’s to everything in between…
(and here's to catching up with a blog post or two----or five :) )
